After that, and depending on what your imaging shows, we might offer you Rhizotomy. Rhizotomy is also known as RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation). These two treatments, ESI and RFA, are delivered in office using a needle under x-ray guidance.

If you have or are likely to have osteoporosis, then we might consider injecting bone glue into your affected bone which would give it greater strength. With this option, any instrumentation placed within the bone would hold more securely and resist coming loose. Similarly, we always consider any previous surgeries that you might have had. For example, if you have already had a prior fusion surgery with screws and rods, then we will need to consider how our surgery would need to integrate with your prior surgery.
